Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for leading the plan, design and development activities to create the user experience for devices, tools and systems.
  • Responsible for establishing interactive conventions, assisting in gathering user requirements, mocking-up user experiences, participating in trade-off discussions with development teams and subject matter experts, analyzing tool sets, creating screen mock-ups and helping customers to imagine new kinds of interactive techniques and technologies.
  • Applies visualization and screen design expertise to create a successful user experience.
  • Support the UX Lead by conducting user research sessions (interviews, usability tests, contextual inquiries) to collect raw behavioral and attitudinal data.
  • Execute discussion guides, screeners, and research protocols as defined by the UX Lead.
  • Observe and document user behaviors, pain points, and patterns during sessions, distinguishing what users say from what they actually do or need.
  • Administer quantitative data collection methods (surveys, card sorting, tree testing) in support of research plans set by the UX Lead.
  • Compile and organize raw research data (notes, session artifacts) into clean, structured formats for UX lead to synthesize.

Required:
  • Active and current TS.SCI w FSP through MD
  • Ten years' experience in User Experience Design.
  • Five years' experience within the last 10 years experience leading project life cycle design.
  • Hands-on experience conducting usability testing, interviews, and/or contextual inquiry directly with end users.
  • Comfortable assisting research sessions alongside a UX lead.
  • Experience independently running research studies end-to-end (objective-setting, study design, execution, and synthesis) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of both qualitative discovery methods (usability testing, contextual inquiry) and quantitative data collection methods (surveys, analytics review, A/B testing, card sorting, tree testing, session observation). Demonstrated experience is a plus.
  • Strong note-taking and data organization skills where they are able to capture and structure raw findings accurately for leadership synthesis and analysis.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented execution of research protocols with minimal need for independent research strategy or stakeholder presentation.
  • Comfort operating with ambiguous, evolving requirements typical of mission/IC environments that is able to define research questions when none is handed to them is a plus.
Education:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional User Experience Design experience on projects with similar design may be substituted for a bachelors degree.

What you will do:
1. Operate in an agile development environment requiring the delivery of User Experience feedback on a weekly basis.
2. Conduct User Experience research and optimization.
3. Create final visual designs, storyboards, interaction flows, and interface guidelines.
4. Take a user-centered approach in crafting design solutions that meet both user needs and product strategy requirements.
5. Work with Product Owners to rapidly prototype and iterate on multiple design solutions.
6. Review final implementation with front-end developers to insure design standards are followed.
7. Work across teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders within various customer bases to provide inspiration and constructive feedback to other Designers.
8. Leading project life cycle design including interviewing customers, clearly articulating customer requirements to design team, creating visual designs/prototypes, presenting information to customers, and helping solve and clarify questions and problems.
9. Manage several diverse engineering teams in conducting User Experience research and optimization

The proposed salary range for this position is: $146,586.00      $156,548.00
